The intensity of the symptoms may vary between individual, but the main and most common symptoms are:

• Salty-tasting skin
• A large appetite, but poor or no weight gain
• Uncomfortable and loud bowel movements
• Shortness of breath or coughing
• Chronic respiratory infections/ progressive loss of lung functions
• Pneumonia and bronchitis
• Diabetes due to the damaging of pancreas
• Infertility in men, due to the tube that carries sperm becoming blocked
• Fertility problems in women due to nutritional problems
• Irregular menstrual cycles due to women being underweight
• Malnutrition
• Maldigestion
• Abnormally salty sweat
• Thick, viscous mucus secretions in the lungs
• Repeated infections inside organs
• Fatigue
• Enlarged fingertips
• Changes of colors of spit
• Asthma
• No bowel movements in first 24 to 48 hours of life
• Weight loss
• Diarrhea
• Delayed growth
